Dr. Anjali Mulchandani is a postdoctoral fellow in the Water and Energy Efficiency for the Environment lab at Stanford University. Anjali will be joining University of New Mexico as an Assistant Professor in 2021.
Her research explores solving global water, waste and energy challenges by developing novel materials and physical/chemical process to improve resource sustainability. Two unique resource reservoirs she studies are the atmosphere (to capture drinking water) and sewage sludges (to recover metals, nutrients and energy).
She received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Arizona State University (ASU), and B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles. She was the recipient of the ASU Engineering Dean’s Dissertation Award and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
Her passions include leading public outreach initiatives for STEM awareness among all levels of learners, and advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion in engineering education. She currently coordinates the Stanford Chapter American Society for Engineering Education anti-racism multimedia learning club and previously served as a mentor for NanoEnvironmental Engineering for High School Teachers, ASU Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative, and FIRST LEGO league robotics.
