Andrew Whelton, Ph.D.

Dr. Whelton is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering and Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University. His team investigates and solves problems that affect our natural and built environments. His expertise focusses on environmental chemistry and engineering, disasters, polymer science and engineering, water quality, infrastructure, and public health.

Dr. Whelton holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in civil and environmental engineering from Virginia Tech. Before joining Purdue, he served on the faculty at the University of South Alabama. His prior experience includes postdoctoral training at NIST and Virginia Tech, as well as employment with the U.S. Army and several consulting firms.
